You do have to carry boats down a short flight of steps to the beach, where at low tide rocky fill is exposed. The Three Mile Run launch ramp is usually very quiet, and gives access to the southern end of the lake. If you want to do what I do I recommend you be a good swimmer and have a buddy who is also a good swimmer. It’s two miles to the Haycock launch.
